The Marching Scarlet and Grey

Organized in 2006, the Marching Scarlet and Grey includes instrumentation, Color Guard, majorettes (the Hawkettes), and a full collegiate marching squad. The Marching Scarlet & Grey performs for:

  • Football games
  • Marching festivals
  • Parades
  • Civic and community events
  • Band exhibitions and competitions

Your Band Experience

Energize the crowd, add some atmosphere, and boost the student-athletes’ resolve—there’s so much power in an instrument! Go ahead. Toot your own horn! As part of the band, you’ll experience:

  • The Scarlet & Grey Scholarship: minimum of $14,000 for Band participation, all members are eligible.
  • Instruments, uniforms, and equipment provided at no cost to students.
  • No band fees.
  • Opportunities for students of all majors and at a variety of skill levels.
  • Full band travel and performance across the Southeast.
  • The band program includes the Huntingdon Winds Concert Band, the Huntingdon Jazz Ensemble, BallHawks Pep Band, and the Huntingdon Percussion Studio among other ensembles.

Band Events

Huntingdon College Band Day

The Marching Scarlet and Grey’s Marching Band Day serves marching band winds, percussion, drum majors, color guard, dance line, and majorettes in grades 8–12.

Your experience will include:

  • Rehearse and perform with Huntingdon’s Marching Scarlet and Grey
  • Marching Honor Band T-shirt
  • Meet and work with Huntingdon students and faculty
  • Lunch provided

Auxiliary Day

Huntingdon Auxiliary day is for any Dance line, Majorette, and Color guard members who wish to participate and learn new skills. The camp will focus on individual and group techniques. A performance will take place at the end of the day for all parents and friends.

Brass Symposium

The Huntingdon College Band Brass Symposium is a one-day workshop for middle school and high school students who play trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, or tuba. No audition required. Spend the day with us! Participation fee includes all instruction, and lunch. All events take place on the Huntingdon College campus in the Band Room, and Smith Hall. Invite your family and friends to your end-of-day ensemble recital!

High School Honor Band

We are looking forward to our annual Huntingdon College honor band on March 13-14th! It’s going to be a great time and a great learning experience for everyone involved! This year our very own director of bands Mr. Anthony Vittore will be the conductor of the honor band. He has 20 years experience in the high school classroom and has be a guest conductor all over the state of Alabama. The honor band is open to students in grade 9-12. We look forward to seeing you there!

Drum Major Academy

Huntingdon’s Drum Major Academy in partnership with Mr. Calvin Scott is for anyone who is interested in trying out for drum major at their high school! They will learn from one of the best drum major instructors in the state on proper techniques, tips, and cues that will help them be confident when they go to their own tryouts. The cost is $15, which includes lunch. This is a great way to learn techniques  for beginners all the way to experienced candidates. Huntingdon College Band believes in hard work and dedication, and that there is no short cut to success. We look to instill these values into our students, and now the future leaders of the high school bands throughout the state.

Day of Drumline

We are pleased to welcome all High-School aged students to Huntingdon’s third annual, Day of Drumline.  Joining us this year as the guest artist is Dr. Jason Baker, Professor of Percussion at Mississippi State University.  If you love drumming, receiving feedback, and listening to top professionals perform on their instruments, this event is for you!
